GIF compression

GIF files,
trimmed down

Usually 30-50% lighter through lossy optimization + color reduction. Same extension, same dimensions, nothing renamed.

What happens to a GIF

GIF survives because a loop plays anywhere with no player and no sound: chat threads, email, documentation, a help article. It pays for that with size, since it is capped at 256 colors per frame and stores far more frame data than a loop needs. Tightening the palette, discarding pixels that do not change from one frame to the next and running a lossy pass removes 30-50%. Keep GIF for a clip that has to play inline, and move to video once it runs beyond a few seconds.

Three steps

01

Add the GIF files

Drag them into the panel above or browse for them. Up to 20 at a time, 5 MB each.

02

The route runs itself

Lossy optimization + color reduction is applied to every file, tuned so the result holds up next to the original on screen.

03

Take the lighter copy

Compare the two sizes, read the saving, and download the GIF file on its own or with the rest of the batch.
