Both formats, briefly
JPGIN
JPG is where photographs end up by default. Its compression discards detail the eye is unlikely to notice, so a camera shot fits in a few hundred kilobytes instead of tens of megabytes. That suits scenes built from gradients and texture. It suits screenshots and line art badly, because the discarded detail shows up as smudging around hard edges. Every re-save loses a little more, so keep an original if you plan to edit the file more than once.
PSDOUT
PSD is Photoshop's working file. Layers, masks, adjustment settings, smart objects and live text stay separate inside it, so you can reopen a design months later and move one element without rebuilding the rest. That structure makes it a poor file to hand over: PSDs are heavy, and software outside Adobe's tools usually opens them only partially or flattened. Export to PNG, JPG or TIFF once the editing is finished.
