DOTM files • Max 25MB per file • Up to 10 files
Both formats, briefly
DOTMIN
DOTM is the macro enabled version of a Word template. Every document made from it inherits both the house formatting and the VBA behind it, which is how organizations distribute forms and document generators that behave the same for everyone. That macro support is also why security policies treat these files carefully.
XLSOUT
XLS is the binary workbook Excel produced up to the 2003 release. Old financial models, exported reports and line of business tools still hand them out. Current spreadsheet apps read the format, though its smaller sheet limits and missing newer features are why most people move the data across.
