CAB, short for Cabinet, is the Microsoft package used for installers, drivers and Windows system components. A cabinet can carry a digital signature and can span several volumes. TAR.LZMA pairs a TAR bundle with the original LZMA compressor, the ancestor of the XZ format used today. Compression is strong, but current tools write .tar.xz instead, so this ending mostly turns up on older files. Convert one when you want something modern software opens without argument.
