Both formats, briefly
PPTIN
PPT is the binary deck PowerPoint produced from 1997 through 2003. Training material, conference talks and internal decks from that period are still stored this way. Today's presentation software opens them, but effects and layouts invented since then cannot be saved back into the old format.
PPSMOUT
PPSM pairs the two PowerPoint extras: it opens straight into the show and it can run VBA macros. That combination suits self running displays and interactive training that has to react to the viewer with nobody at the keyboard. As with any macro file, it should come from a source you trust.
