POTIN
POT is the template PowerPoint used before the XML formats arrived. It holds the same thing, a reusable set of masters and color choices, in the older binary layout. Most surviving POT files sit in company template libraries that nobody has moved forward yet.
PDFOUT
Turning slides into a PDF fixes them as pages: layout, fonts and images stay where you put them, and the reader needs nothing more than a browser or a PDF viewer. Animations and transitions do not survive the trip, which is fine for handouts, printed decks and email attachments. Reviewers can mark up the PDF without touching your original deck.
