PPMIN
PPM is deliberately plain: a short text header followed by raw RGB values, with no compression and no structure to parse. That is what you want when you are writing image code yourself or piping frames between command line tools, because reading and writing it takes a few lines. It belongs to the Netpbm family, next to PGM for grayscale and PBM for pure black and white. The files are enormous, so convert before sending one anywhere.
AVIFOUT
AVIF applies the AV1 video codec to still images. At the same visual quality it generally produces smaller files than JPG or WebP, and it handles transparency, high dynamic range, wide color and animation. The limits are decode speed and older software: current browsers cope, while an image tool from a few years back may not open the file at all. Use it for web delivery where bandwidth counts and you can serve a JPG fallback.
