Both formats, briefly
ARWIN
ARW is the raw file from Sony Alpha and Cyber-shot cameras. It keeps the full sensor output, typically 12 or 14 bits per channel against the 8 bits a JPG gives you, and that headroom is what lets you lift shadows or rescue highlights afterwards without banding. Sony's own software and the main raw editors open ARW. Ordinary viewers, phones and upload forms often do not, which is the point at which you need a converted copy.
SVGOUT
An SVG stores a drawing as instructions rather than a grid of pixels. Lines, curves and fills are redrawn at whatever size the page asks for, so one file looks sharp as a 16 pixel icon and as a printed poster. That makes it the right pick for logos, icons, charts and interface graphics. The contents are XML, so you can edit an SVG in a text editor and style or animate it with CSS. Photographs are the one thing it handles badly.
