Both formats, briefly
CBRIN
CBR stores comic pages the same way CBZ does, one image per page in reading order, except the archive is compressed with RAR instead of ZIP. It was among the first containers collectors used for scanned comics, so older libraries and long-running series are often still filed this way. RAR packs those pages a little tighter, at the cost of needing software that can unpack RAR at all. Upload a CBR here when you want the pages moved into something your current reader handles.
HTMLZOUT
HTMLZ is a book packed as ordinary web files: the HTML holding the text, a stylesheet, and the images, zipped together into one archive. Nothing sits behind a proprietary container, so this is the format to pick when you want to edit a book by hand, feed it to your own publishing script, or inspect how the markup came out of an earlier conversion. Calibre reads and writes it, which makes it a comfortable stopping point between two other formats. Choose HTMLZ when the file is a working copy rather than the version someone will read.
