ODT is the text document of the OpenDocument standard and the native save format of LibreOffice Writer and Apache OpenOffice. It carries styles, tables, images and document structure under a published specification rather than one company's. That makes it a sensible home for material you need to open many years from now.
DOCMOUT
A DOCM is a Word document allowed to carry VBA macros. Teams use them where the document does work by itself: filling fields, checking a form before it is submitted, assembling a report from what someone typed. Since that code actually runs, these files are normally accepted only from trusted internal sources.
