TAR.XZ to ZIP converter
Turn TAR.XZ into ZIP
Send us the TAR.XZ you already have and take away a ZIP. Handled on our servers, deleted the moment the job ends.
or drag and drop files here
TAR.XZ files • Max 50MB per file • Up to 10 files
Both formats, briefly
TAR.XZIN
TAR.XZ runs LZMA2 compression over a TAR bundle and usually ends up the smallest of the common Unix archive types. Building one asks for more processor time and memory than gzip does. It fits large downloads well, because you pay that cost once and everyone who fetches the file saves bandwidth.
ZIPOUT
Windows, macOS and Linux all open ZIP files with no extra software, which is why it stays the default for sending a folder to someone. Compression is moderate and unpacking is quick. Pick ZIP when you care more about the other person being able to open the file than about squeezing out every last megabyte.
