RPMIN
RPM packages software for Red Hat, Fedora, CentOS Stream, openSUSE and related systems, bundling the files to be installed with version and dependency details. The payload inside is a compressed archive. Convert one when you want to browse or pull out those files on a machine with no RPM tooling.
ZIPOUT
Windows, macOS and Linux all open ZIP files with no extra software, which is why it stays the default for sending a folder to someone. Compression is moderate and unpacking is quick. Pick ZIP when you care more about the other person being able to open the file than about squeezing out every last megabyte.
