DEB files • Max 50MB per file • Up to 10 files

Both formats, briefly

DEB

DEBIN

A DEB is the installable package used by Debian, Ubuntu and the distributions built on them. It holds the program files next to the metadata that lists dependencies and describes what to run during installation. Underneath it is an archive, so converting one lets you read through the contents without installing anything.

TAR

TAROUT

A TAR file stacks many files into one without shrinking them, keeping Unix permissions, ownership and folder structure exactly as they were. On Linux that makes it the usual first step before a compressor such as gzip or xz runs over the result. Reach for plain TAR when you want a faithful bundle and will handle compression separately, or not at all.

Three steps, start to finish

STEP 01

Add your DEB

Drag it onto the page, or pull it in from your computer, Google Drive or Dropbox.

STEP 02

TAR is preselected

This page is already set to write TAR. Switch the target if you change your mind.

STEP 03

Take the TAR

Grab the result the moment the job clears. Your upload is wiped straight afterwards.
